Calculate Your Body Shape

Enter your measurements below to determine your body shape. All measurements should be taken at the fullest part of each area.

How to Calculate Body Shape

Body shape is determined by comparing the measurements of your bust, waist, and hips. Understanding your body shape can help you choose clothing that flatters your figure and enhances your natural proportions.

Body Measurements

To calculate your body shape, you need to measure three key areas:

  • Bust: Measure around the fullest part of your chest.
  • Waist: Measure around the narrowest part of your natural waist, usually just above the belly button.
  • Hips: Measure around the fullest part of your hips and buttocks.

Body Shape Types

There are five main body shape types:

  1. Hourglass: Balanced bust and hips with a defined waist
  2. Inverted Triangle: Broader shoulders or bust, narrower hips
  3. Pear: Narrower shoulders and bust, wider hips
  4. Rectangle: Balanced shoulder and hip measurements with less defined waist
  5. Apple: Fuller midsection, often with slimmer legs

Calculation Steps

  1. Take your measurements in centimeters.
  2. Calculate the differences between measurements:
    • Shoulder-Hip Difference = |Bust - Hip|
    • Shoulder-Waist Difference = Bust - Waist
    • Hip-Waist Difference = Hip - Waist
  3. Determine your body shape based on these differences:
    • Hourglass: Shoulder-Hip Difference ≤ 1 cm, Shoulder-Waist Difference ≥ 9 cm, Hip-Waist Difference ≥ 9 cm
    • Inverted Triangle: Bust > Hip, Shoulder-Hip Difference > 1 cm, Shoulder-Waist Difference ≥ 9 cm
    • Pear: Hip > Bust, Shoulder-Hip Difference > 1 cm, Hip-Waist Difference ≥ 9 cm
    • Rectangle: Shoulder-Hip Difference ≤ 1 cm, Shoulder-Waist Difference < 9 cm, Hip-Waist Difference < 9 cm
    • Apple: If none of the above conditions are met

Example Calculation

Let's calculate the body shape for someone with the following measurements:

  • Bust: 92 cm
  • Waist: 74 cm
  • Hip: 98 cm

Step 1: Calculate differences

$$\begin{align} Shoulder-Hip\;Difference &= |92 - 98| = 6\;cm \\ Shoulder-Waist\;Difference &= 92 - 74 = 18\;cm \\ Hip-Waist\;Difference &= 98 - 74 = 24\;cm \end{align}$$

Step 2: Determine body shape

Based on these calculations:

  • Shoulder-Hip Difference (6 cm) > 1 cm
  • Hip (98 cm) > Bust (92 cm)
  • Hip-Waist Difference (24 cm) ≥ 9 cm

These measurements meet the criteria for a Pear body shape.

Step 3: Final result

The calculated body shape is Pear.
